History
Most people who use e-cigarettes today believe that they are a brand new product on the market, most likely only a few years old. In fact, however, as early as the twentieth century, doctors and scientists realized how harmful traditional smoking was, and even then a media campaign was launched against traditional smoking and the manufacturers of tobacco and cigarette products.

It is for this reason that Philip Morris began working on the first electronic cigarette in the mid-20th century. The Eclipse model still used tobacco, contained nicotine and produced carbon monoxide, but reduced the negative effects of secondhand smoke by almost 90%. This was due to the fact that there was no combustion process, but only heating of the cartridge. The next product, Acord, also took care of its users, allowing them to inhale 80% less harmful substances. However, none of these inventions gained much popularity.

The breakthrough came around 2004, when a Chinese pharmacist with slightly nobler motives than Philip Morris constructed a prototype of the first true e-cigarette. Initially, the Ruyan model was only available in the local Chinese market. Only after receiving all the permits, in 2005, sales began in other parts of the world. Ruyan arrived in the USA a year later – and it was here that he finally gained popularity among smokers who want to get rid of addiction that is detrimental to health.

2008 brought another change to the industry: tankomizers were developed and launched on the market. They got rid of the annoying special cotton wool soaked in nicotine liquid, replacing it with a liquid container. Thanks to this, smoking e-cigarettes has become even easier, so the number of its fans has again increased dramatically.

In Europe, companies specializing in this type of equipment began to appear, selling e-cigarettes both by mail order and in the first shops dedicated to this industry. The popularity of vaping, as the masses referred to e-smoking, has grown year by year. A big jump was recorded after the introduction of another more modern solution – a clearomizer, as well as a significant increase in battery efficiency.
Sales in 2012 in the US alone exceeded 1.3 million units, which was already quite a significant market for this still unusual product.

Although the press continues to report in the form of sensational articles about the dangers of e-smoking, doctors and researchers themselves have no doubt: traditional cigarettes are much more poisonous. An electronic version that allows you to inhale nicotine without the vast majority of the side effects of active and passive smoking has even been approved by the American Association of Public Health Physicians (AAPHP).
